White Maple, 2025

White foam core, tracing paper, 29” x 36”

If you are a tree person, you know there are at minimum White Birches and White Ashes. But White Maples? Those would be a tree version of the elusive unicorn. We may not have been lucky enough to catch one of those, but do have a unique looking, so called Lyre-Shaped Maple outside our back door in Maine. This is its double portrait.

Showing its tree shape and of its leaves. And it’s portrait is all white. So, White Maple it is. Each individual leaf is a portrait of a specific leaf. Who knew there could be so many variations on a scheme?
